The use of rainbow colours is eye-catching and family friendly, indicating that the paper is aiming for a wide audience with a varied age range. The use of exclamation marks are creative as they decrease in size whilst being connotative to sound "No need to shout every day." This phrase shows that the paper is not wanting to shout out big news, but wants to convey it to the audience. The font used in the image has been used so that the text is vertical and in white normal Times New Roman font. The name of the paper has been typed in the themed colour (blue) horizonatally, with the ".co.uk" place on the second line, but following onto it, showing that it is both the website name and name for newspaper. There is no indication of price or where to buy the paper, indicating that the paper is either really easy to aquire and/or is very popualr and is available at all newspaper stands.
The Observer
Use of white and blue as main themed colours. The arrows used are the same design as road signs which indicate the correct direction, and the arrows point to the text "theobserver.ca" which indicates that is what the audience should read. The text is in white bold font, with the top line "theobserver.ca" being in the largest size font, the second line of text reading "LOCAL NEWS, BUSINESS, ENTERTAINMENT, SPORTS & MORE" in a much smaller font, partially underlined by a white line. Under the line, slightly larger text reads in white, "DON'T MISS A BEAT." which links to the idea that news is on the beat. Above the text is a white box with five images in it possibly relating to news articles. On the upper left corner and lower right corner of the whole advert is some creative design using dark colours. The design is in a spray paint artisitc design, which is eye catching to some of the younger audience. The target being the late teens and young adults. There is no pricing and no indication of where it can be bought, so it leaves it to the audience to assume that the paper can be bought at a newspaper stand, and does not need to be subscribed to.
