Story Draft 9

September Report

The September report on the weather shows a facinating occurance in the weather which was unexpected, but still managed to boost tourism after the dismal summer.

The UK experienced an Atlantic depression, bringing strong winds to all areas on the 6th, resulting in localised transport disruption, as ferries were cancelled and road bridges restricted.

Six days later, the UK suffered another depression, which was much deeper, due to the fact it was the remnants of Hurricane Katia. This brought very strong gusts of winds to Northern England, North Wales, Southern Scotland and Northern Ireland.

In these areas, trees were brought down, disruption to the roads, rails, sea transport and power cuts. Combined with these strong winds, high tides resulted in large waves battering several of the western coastline.

Over the last few days of Septemeber, the UK experienced sunny and very warm conditions, resulting from the high depression over continental Europe and a southernly air flow.

Temperates rose to an excess of 25 degrees Celsius each day from the 28th Spetember in England and Wales.

At the month-end, temperatures peaked at 29 degrees Celsius, making it the warmest end to September in over 100 years.

Because of the weather conditions, toursim had recieved an extra boost, as people flockd to the coaslines and, locals from Harrogate flocked to the Stray, where it was seen that many people were already worshiping the sun's warmth and children were playing sports in the good weather.
